Iggy Azalea is known as an Australian rapper and social media influencer. She is most famous for her hits like 'Bounce,' 'Fancy,' and her high profile relationship with NBA basketball star, Nick Young.

Fame

Background

Iggy was born Amethyst Amelia Kelly on June 7, 1990, in Sydney, Australia. Her father, Brendan, was an artist and children's book author. Her mother, Tanya, a house cleaner. She experienced childhood in the New South Wales town of Mullumbimby which had a populace of 3,000 residents. On an American trip with her grandparents in 2001, Azalea visited Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and the possibility of an actual life past the Australian wide open started to interest the young lady.

Career

Iggy appeared on the front cover of XXL magazine's 2012 Freshmen Class issue. She was the only female non-American rapper to make their Freshmen Class list. The spread started a feud with rapper and outspoken personality, Azealia Banks, who tweeted: "How can you endorse a white woman who calls herself a runaway slave master?" This was a reference to the questionable verses in Iggy's song "DRUGS," which the Australian rapper would later apologize for.

That same year, Azalea signed with Wilhelmina Models International and got many fashion endorsements including Levi Jeans.

Personal Life

Relationships

Azalea started dating the rapper A$AP Rocky in 2011, getting the title of his mixtape ‘Live. Love. A$AP' inked on her fingers. She had the tattoo removed in the wake of her break up with Rocky in 2012.

She declared her engagement to the L.A. Lakers ball player, Nick Young, in June 2015, yet finished the relationship a year later, referring to his supposed disloyalty. She became a part of basketball tabloids and gossip because it was Nick’s teammate D’Angelo Russell who revealed to the world that Nick was cheating on Iggy.

She had already forgiven him for previous instances of cheating but this was the last straw for her. A viral video surfaced where Russell called out Nick on his infidelity. He thought he was just playing a joke but the video caused many in the NBA circle to shame Russell for letting the secrets of a teammate out publicly. The incident caused their team, the Los Angeles Lakers to trade Russell to the Brooklyn Nets because they felt that he wasn’t fit to be a leader. They did not want outside drama involved in their team operations and felt it was best to move on from him.
