Stone started acting when she was 11, with her first stage role in an adolescent theater production of The Wind in the Willows. All through middle school, she appeared in 16 productions with the theater, some of which included classic works like The Princess and the Pea, Alice in Wonderland, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She also performed with the theater's improvisational parody group.

Stone got her first break as the victor of the VH1 reality TV drama In Search of the New Partridge Family (2004). The contest featured eight hopeful youthful actresses, all seeking the role of Laurie Partridge for the restoration of the 1970s exemplary sitcom. Challengers were judged based on their singing, acting and likeness to the first Laurie.

Stone got praise in 2011, as college alumni and hopeful writer Eugenia "Skeeter" Phelan in The Help, a film based on Kathryn Stockett's book. The film was nominated for both an Oscar and Golden Globe. That same year, Stone featured in the hit lighthearted comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love with Ryan Gosling and Steve Carell.

Stone was given a role as Gwen Stacy, the 17-year-old love interest of Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man, released in 2012, and its 2014 sequel. Around this time, she additionally featured in Gangster Squad (2013), The Croods (2013) and Magic in the Moonlight (2014).

Personal Life
