David Muir is known as an American journalist and anchor. He is most famous for his work on the nightly news show, 'World News Tonight with David Muir.' He is also known for being the co-anchor of the ABC News program, '20/20'.
David Muir was born on November 8, 1973, in Syracuse, New York. He was born to guardians Ronald Muir and Pat Mills David Muir knew since early on that he needed to be a broadcast journalist. At the point when he was 10, he would pretend to do broadcasts from a cardboard box in his family's lounge room. By age 12, he had a habit of pardoning himself from playing with his companions to watch the news at 6 p.m. He felt that Peter Jennings was the James Bond of the nightly news. For Halloween, he would put on a coat and dress as a correspondent.
As a youthful teenager, he wrote a note to Syracuse's WTVH Channel 5 anchor Ron Curtis, requesting advice on how to find a new line of work like his. When he was 13 and a student at Onondaga Central Junior-Senior High School, he was interning at WTVH. Muir dove into the newsroom, carrying tripods for photographers and columnists in the field. Muir went to the Roy H. Park School of Communication at Ithaca College, where he was a news-casting major and an anchor on a student newscast during his first year. He additionally earned a minor in political theory, which included studying at the Institute on Political Journalism in Georgetown and interning at the Department of Health and Human Services.
Career as an American journalist(anchor)
David Muir is the current anchor and managing editorial manager of ABC News' World News Tonight with David Muir. He succeeded Diane Sawyer in September 2014. He is also the co-anchor of 20/20 with Amy Robach. Muir has been with ABC News since August 2003, joining World News Tonight as an end of the week anchor. Before his role at the national network, he was at Boston's WCVB and Syracuse's WTVH.
In September 2017, under Muir's lead, World News Tonight broke a 21-year streak and turned into the most-watched evening newscast, which hadn't occurred since Jennings was behind the news desk.
