Short Biography

Alex Trebek is known as an American game show host and media personality. He is most famous for being the host of the 'Jeopardy!,' game show and has enjoyed multiple Daytime Emmy Awards trophies.

Alex Trebek was born on July 22, 1940, in Sudbury, Canada, a big city in northern Ontario. His mom, Lucille Trebek, was a French-Canadian lady with some First Nations family tree line, and his father, George Trebek, was a Ukrainian immigrant who worked as a culinary expert at a neighborhood lodging. Trebek depicts his father as a hoarder of knickknacks that had a method for being helpful years after the fact.

As a splendid and inquisitive young man, Trebek went to Jesuit schools until the age of 12, when he chose to leave Sudbury to go to the University of Ottawa High School in the Canadian capital.

Career as a television personality

In 1973, Trebek chose to leave his home nation for where the greatest TV stars are made: Hollywood. His first American TV gig was as host of the fleeting 1973 NBC game show, The Wizard of Odds. The show just endured one season. In 1974 Trebek signed on to have the replacement program, another game show called High Rollers.

In 1984, ABC tapped Trebek to host a game show by the well known maker of Wheel of Fortune, Merv Griffin. The show was a rehash of a well known concept called Jeopardy!, which aired from 1964 to 1975 in its first manifestation. Jeopardy! utilized an exceptional configuration where bets were offered as answers and contenders replied as inquiries.

Trebek's form of Jeopardy! rapidly ended up a standout amongst the most mainstream game shows in TV history, and as its appealing and charming host, Trebek turned into a popular culture symbol, winning five Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Game Show Host over three decades on air.

Marriage & Family

Alex Trebek married Elaine Callei in 1974, and they stayed married for a long time before separating in 1981. In 1990, he would marry for a second time, to Jean Currivan, and they have two children, Emily and Matthew.

Battle with Cancer

In March 2019, Trebek dropped a bomb with the declaration that he had been diagnosed to have level 4 pancreatic cancer. Fortunately for his fans, he announced in May 2019 that his cancer had gone into remission. He received a tremendous amount of support from his fans and family while he was battling the life-threatening disease.
