Short Biography

Scott Pelley is known as an American journalist and author who worked for CBS News for close to 30 years. He is most famous for his book, Truth Worth Telling, and his correspondent work for the CBS News program 60 Minutes.

Scott Cameron Pelley was born on July 28, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas to parents John Elmer Pelley Jr and Wanda Graves Pelley. He has a brother named John Pelley. For his educational students, he went to Coronado High School. He went on to college and graduated from Texas Tech University.

He started his career inside KSEL-TV in 1975 which was the local channel of Lubbock'. He moved on towards WFAA TV for his developing career in 1982.

Career as an American journalist

In 2004, Pelley made an esteemed career move, joining the cast of the long-running, newsmagazine 60 Minutes, where he established a long term connection, getting half of the show's real honors throughout the years. In his run, the show won 29 Emmys. Pelley's accounts were far-running, noteworthy and prominent pieces that encouraged talk across the nation.

His interviews with notable figures such as one of the Navy SEALs who murdered Osama canister Laden, George W. Bramble, Afghan President Hamid Karzai, and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made Pelley a power player in TV news coverage.

In 2011, after Katie Couric's departure, Pelley turned into the managing manager and anchor of the CBS Evening News, and CBS Evening News With Scott Pelley. CBS has been working to cleanse itself of working environment sexual harassment.

Pelley, who still works for CBS as a journalist said in an appearance on CNN Sunday morning that he trusts he was fired from his anchor position because of his repeat protests about the negative workplace at CBS News. “I lost my job at the Evening News because I wouldn’t stop complaining to management about the hostile work environment. Four or five years ago I went to the president of the news division and explained to him that this hostile work environment couldn’t go on, for women and men, and he told me if I kept agitating about that internally, then I’d lose my job.”

Proud Spouse & Children

Pelley married his spouse Jane Boone in 1983 and the couple have two children, a boy named Reece and a little girl named Blair. They have been happily married and Jane is very proud of her husband's stance on sexual harassment at CBS.
