Catherine Élise Blanchett was born on May 14, 1969, in Melbourne, Australia. Cate Blanchett started becoming famous in the theater industry after graduating from Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art in 1992. She immediately won roles with the Sydney Theater Company with roles in Top Girls and Kafka Dances. Blanchett won the Sydney Theater Critics Circle Newcomer Award in 1993.

Career & Award

Cate Blanchett's Golden Globe-winning depiction of England's Queen Elizabeth I in Elizabeth earned the actress her first Academy Award nomination in 1998. Blanchett turned in a brilliant supporting performance in 1999's The Talented Mr. Ripley, a film additionally including Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jude Law. Blanchett got married to a screenwriter named Andrew Upton in 1997. The couple ended up having three sons and one daughter together. The names of their sons are Dashiell John, Roman Robert, and Ignatius Martin. They adopted their daughter, Edith in 2015.
