Alessandra Mussolini

Alessandra Mussolini is a former Italian politician, actress, and model who served as a Member of the European Parliament for Forza Italia. She is most famous for being the granddaughter of Benito Mussolini, a former prime minister of Italy. She is also well known for her various controversies, including her recent feud with Canadian comedian and actor Jim Carrey.

She served in the Italian Chamber of Deputies from 2008 to 2013 and the Italian Senate from 2013 to 2014. She was elected under the People of Freedom, which is currently a component of Forza Italia. In 2014, she was elected to the European Parliament.

Background

Alessandra Mussolini was born on December 30, 1962, in Rome as the little girl of Romano Mussolini. Romano was an Italian jazz piano player and the fourth child of Benito Mussolini, the Prime Minister of Italy, from 1922 to 1943. Her mother is actress Anna Maria Villani Scicolone. Her mom is the sister of actress Sophia Loren.

She attended the American Overseas School of Rome from 1976 to 1980 for high school. She earned her master's degree in medicine and surgery from the Sapienza University of Rome in 1994.

On October 28, 1989, she married customs officer Mauro Floriani. She proposed to him, breaking with custom. They have three children together: Caterina, Clarissa, and Romano (named after his grandfather). The children later took on their mother's surname, but only after she had gone through a lengthy legal process. She has since advocated for reform in Italian legislation to allow all children to adopt their mother's surname if they desire.

In 2015, her husband was set to testify in a child prostitution case. Around 50 males were accused in 2013 of paying two adolescent girls, ages 14 and 15, for sexual services in Rome, including professionals, priests, and politicians.

Caio Giulio Cesare Mussolini, Benito Mussolini's great-grandson, campaigned for the Fratelli d'Italia party in the 2019 European Parliament election, and she is his first cousin once removed. Although she does not attend Mass regularly, she considers herself a Roman Catholic.

Career

She has been a member of the Italian Senate since 2013 and was chosen for The People of Freedom which later turned out to be part of Forza Italia. Since 2014, she has been a Member of the European Parliament.

She was the author and pioneer of the national traditionalist ideological group Social Action from 2004 until 2008. Mussolini additionally filled in as a Member of the European Parliament. She has been a member of the Chamber of Deputies, the lower chamber of the Italian Parliament, for The People of Freedom.

The entertainer turned political activist Jim Carrey first incensed Alessandra Mussolini when posting one of his political illustrations on Saturday. It portrayed her grandfather and his special lady, Claretta Petacci, hanging by their feet after being executed by the terminating squad in 1945. In the caption of the drawing, Carrey wrote, "If you're wondering what fascism leads to, just ask Benito Mussolini and his mistress Claretta." Even though Benito is widely known as a fascist, Alessandra still took offense to the depiction of her grandfather.

Personal Life

She married customs policeman Mauro Floriani on October 28, 1989. Conflicting with custom, she proposed to him instead of the other way around. Together they have three children, Caterina, Clarissa, and Romano. The last was named after her father.

Her better half was booked to appear at court for a child prostitution preliminary trial in 2015. In 2013, Media blamed around 50 men, professionals, ministers, and politicians for paying two high school young ladies for sexual favors in Rome.
