Omari Hardwick is known as an American actor. He is most famous for his role as James "Ghost" St. Patrick in Starz's Power. He recently got into controversy when he tried to kiss an uncomfortable Beyonce.
Background and Career
Omari was born as Latif Hardwick on January 9, 1974 in Savannah, Georgia. He experienced childhood in Decatur, Georgia. Hardwick's folks gave him a name to set a point of reference for his life. "Omari" signifying "most high," and "Latif" signifying "gentle."
Growing up, sports were Hardwick's passions, yet at an opportune time he realized he had an energy passion for the arts. By the age of 14, Hardwick was writing poetry all the time, an interest he would carry with him into adulthood. In high school, he exceeded expectations at basketball, baseball, and football, and proceeded to play football at the University of Georgia. In spite of the fact that he was a star on the field, Hardwick never surrendered his energy for acting, and minored in theater in school.
On his official web site, he talked about the switch from sports to acting “I hugely attribute sports to my success in entertainment business. Being on the field taught me dedication and discipline – I already came from a strict household when I was growing up, sports just took that to another level. Whenever I approach a set, I always feel as though the cast, crew, director, are all part of a team”
Hardwick's first huge break came in 2003, when he was thrown in his first real role as a series regular in Spike Lee's Sucker Free City. He had many more roles along the way until he got his most famous role as Ghost in the show called, “Power”.
Omari’s wife, Jennifer Pfautch is a producer and marketing specialist. He married Jennifer Pfautch in 2012, and the two have two children together. The family got a great deal of flak from the devotees of Omari, as they considered Jennifer to be not sufficiently pretty for such an attractive actor. Different negative comments were identified with bigotry, as the family is interracial.
Omari recently came under fire during an incident at an awards show. He was going to say hello to rapper Jay-Z and his wife, pop singer Beyonce. He hugged Beyonce and tried to kiss her twice. The social media world attacked him because Beyonce was visibly uncomfortable while he tried to force his greeting on her.Date modified: Aug 9, 2020
