Peter Paul Montgomery Buttigieg was born on January 19, 1982 in South Bend, Indiana, to Joseph A Buttigieg and Jennifer Ann Montgomery. He studied at St. Joseph school, where during his senior year he was honored by former President JF Kennedy's relatives for a prize-winning article he wrote, at the JFK Profiles in Courage Essay Contest. He was also chosen as an Indiana representative to the United States Senate Youth Program.

He graduated from high school in the year 2000 and then went to on Harvard University where he was chosen as the leader of the Harvard Institute of Politics Student Advisory Committee. He got his bachelor’s degree in Literature and History in 2004. He additionally got a five star Honors degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford in 2007.

Career

After his college graduation, Pete Buttigieg started working at WMAQ-TV as an assistant. He had also worked as an understudy for Jill Long Thompson's 2002 congressional campaign and filled in as a counselor on her 2008 gubernatorial battle.

He was chosen Mayor of South Bend on November 2011. He accepted office the next year, turning into the most youthful Mayor of any US city with a population of over 100,000 inhabitants.

In November 2014, he declared that he would look for a second term as city hall leader. In 2019, he threw his name in for the 2020 presidential race.

Pete Buttigieg's significant other, Chasten Glezman Buttigieg, told his family he was gay during the late spring after he graduated from high school.
