Early Life
Michael Grimm was born on August 7, 1970 in Staten Island, New York. He was the youngest of three children born to a working-class family. His father was a truck driver and his mother was a homemaker. Growing up, Michael was an avid sports fan and played baseball and basketball in his free time. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing in his church choir.
Education
Michael attended Tottenville High School in Staten Island, where he was an honor student and a member of the National Honor Society. After graduating in 1988, he went on to attend the University of Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He then went on to earn a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania.
Career
After graduating from college, Michael began his career in the financial services industry. He worked as a financial analyst for a number of companies, including Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch. In 2006, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing New York's 13th congressional district. During his time in Congress, he was a member of the Financial Services Committee and the Small Business Committee. He also served on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
In 2010, Michael was re-elected to the House of Representatives and served until 2014. During his time in Congress, he was a strong advocate for small businesses and worked to pass legislation that would help them succeed. He also worked to reduce government spending and to create jobs in his district.
