Judd Seymore Hirsch was born on March 15, 1935 in The Bronx, New York. He was born as the child of Sally and Joseph Sidney Hirsch, a circuit tester. His father likewise was born in New York where the family had lived since the mid-1800s. His mom, Sally, was born in Russia. Hirsch was raised Jewish.
