Christopher Hemsworth is an actor from Australia. He rose to fame as Kim Hyde in the Australian television series Home and Away (2004–2007) before moving to Hollywood to pursue a film career. Hemsworth is most recognized for his role as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which he first played in Thor (2011) and most recently in What If...? (2021), making him one of the highest-paid actors in the world.

Background

Christopher Hemsworth was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on August 11, 1983, to Leonie, an English teacher, and Craig Hemsworth, a social-services counselor. His brothers Luke (born 1980) and Liam (born 1990) are also actors, and he is the middle of three sons. His maternal grandpa is a Dutch immigrant, and his maternal grandmother is Irish; he is of English, Scottish, and German ancestry on his paternal side. He grew up in both Melbourne and Bulman, Northern Territory, in the Outback. He's stated, "My earliest memories are of cattle stations in the Outback, and then we moved back to Melbourne, then back out to the Outback, and back to Melbourne again. Although I spent much of my childhood in Melbourne, my most distinct memories are crocodiles and buffalo up in Bulman. People from all walks of life." He went to Heathmont College for high school until his family moved back to the Northern Territory and then to Phillip Island a few years later.

Career

It didn't take long for the Australian actor to make it onto the American cinema when he appeared in J.J. Abrams' 2009 film, Star Trek. His part as Captain James T. Kirk's father role may have been minor. However, it was an adequate performance to prompt a gigantic Hollywood career.

Hemsworth tried out for the lead in the superhero film Thor. Kenneth Brannagh picked the talented Hemsworth to play the Norse god in the 2011 flick opposite Oscar champs Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins. This film achievement raised Hemsworth to A-List status.

The following year, he moved towards becoming Thor again in The Avengers. Hemsworth was then cast to play the character for the third time in 2013's Thor: The Dark World. He has played mainstream character frequently in films like Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Thor Ragnarok (2017), and in Avengers: Infinity War (2018), where he is often seen alongside his Avengers squad.

Personal Life

Chris Hemsworth's agent William Ward helped his client score significant acting parts. Still, on the other hand, through that association, he met his future spouse, Spanish actress Elsa Pataky. She is known for her roles in Snakes on a Plane and Fast Five. Three months in the wake of opening up to the world about their love, the 27-year-old married his 34-year-old partner on Christmas weekend in 2010 in Australia.

After two years, the couple gave birth to their young infant lady, India. Hemsworth vows to show his girl how to surf. The couple added to their developing family with the birth of twin young men, Tristan and Sasha, in 2014.

Public Image

Hemsworth's physique gained attention after he appeared as Thor in the MCU franchise. His exercise routines have been regularly discussed in the media, including The Times of India, Men's Health, MensXP, Entertainment Tonight, and Metro. He later created the fitness app Centr, which provides paid customers with nutrition, wellness, and exercise routines.

The Australian Football League's 2014 Everything's Possible campaign included Hemsworth as the star. Hemsworth also starred in the AFL's 2017 "I'd Like to See That" ad, donating his remuneration to the Australian Children's Foundation. Hemsworth is a big supporter of the Western Bulldogs.
