Background and Education

Chris Rock was born on February 7, 1965, in Andrews, South Carolina. Rock is the oldest child of Julius Rock, a truck driver, and Rose Rock, a teacher. When Rock was a little child his family moved to Brooklyn, New York. He spent the rest of his youth in Brooklyn's famously tough Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood.

He went to an almost all-white state funded public school and was exposed to segregation at an early age. Rock's initial encounters with bigotry incredibly affected his comedic material.

Career

Rock’s stand up comedy style is most noted for his crude silliness and he has no second thoughts about ridiculing all genders and races. His uninhibited nature has earned him respect from both white and minority fan bases.

At the age 18, Rock was found by Eddie Murphy doing stand-up comedy at New York's Comedy Strip. A little role in Murphy's Beverly Hills Cop II (1987) was Rock's film debut. Rock additionally featured in Keenan Ivory Wayans' I'm Gonna Get You Sucka (1988).

In 1990, Rock pursued the path of his idol, Murphy, by joining the cast of Saturday Night Live. After a year, he released his first comedy collection, Born Suspect (1991). He additionally attempted the more dramatic role of playing Pookie, a medication dependent witness, in Mario Van Peebles' feature film New Jack City (1991).

In the wake of burning through three seasons on SNL, Rock left to pursue other career openings. In 1993, Rock appeared on FOX's In Living Color for a bunch of scenes preceding the show's cancellation.

1996 denoted a defining moment in Rock's career. His abilities were perceived by HBO, and the cable company produced a comedy special featuring Rock, titled Bring in the Pain. The comic won two Emmy Awards and wide praise for the show.

Chris Rock married his wife, Malaak Compton on November 23, 1996. The pair gave birth to a girl named Lola Simone in 2002 and a little girl named Zahra Savannah in 2004. In 2004, Rock petitioned for legal separation from Compton, admitting to unfaithfulness and pornography dependence. Their separation was finished on August 22, 2016.
