Allegations of rape and sexual assault
On July 27, 2004, Anderson was accused of raping a 25-year-old extra in a trailer on the set of Hustle & Flow. According to the alleged victim, Anderson and assistant director Wayne Witherspoon are accused of forcibly removing her clothing, filming her naked body, and digitally entering her. The alleged victim was hospitalized at St. Francis Hospital after a witness claimed to have heard her screams and saw her escape naked from the trailer. On October 6, 2004, the charges were withdrawn after the judge determined insufficient evidence to proceed with the prosecution.
Another lady claimed that Anderson made sexually provocative statements and subsequently assaulted her in his dressing room on All About the Andersons in September 2004. The Los Angeles Police Department announced on July 20, 2018, that he was being probed for another sexual assault claim.
Due to a lack of evidence, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office chose not to bring charges against Anderson on September 4.
