Lil Uzi Vert was born as Symere Woods on July 31, 1994, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He experienced a rough and tough childhood in North Philadelphia. Uzi was always a fan of hip hop when he was a young boy but didn't start rapping until he was in high school. It was his companion William Aston who urged him to start rapping because he saw the talent in Uzi. Uzi wanted to hang out around Aston when he heard Aston’s freestyle rap He was so motivated by Aston’s abilities and wanted to try the art out himself.

Career

Lil Uzi has been an active member of the hip hop scene since 2013. His rapping skills were seen by Don Cannon, who heard one of Uzi's tunes being played on the radio by DJ Diamond Kuts. He later signed a record deal with DJ Drama, Don Cannon under Atlantic Records.

He is best known for his mixtape Luv Is Rage, which was released on October 30, 2015. His debut single, "Money Longer" was a huge hit among fans. Uzi was named as one of the ten 2016 XXL Freshmen on June 13, 2016. The list created by XXL magazine has been responsible for shedding light on up and coming rappers.

He released his fifth mixtape The Perfect Luv Tape on his 22nd birthday on July 31, 2016. Uzi worked together with the rap group Migos in October 2016 on the single "Bad and Boujee". The collab gave him a rise in exposure because of the popularity that Migos brought to the table.

Lil Uzi was in a long loving relationship with his cherished sweetheart Brittany Byrd. The couple dated each other for quite a long while until they split in 2016.  They were intense about their relationship when they were together. It came as a shock to the hip hop industry when their relationship was finished. Lil expressed that his better half Brittany Byrd cheated on him and that was the explanation for their separation.

Lil Uzi has not been linked to anyone else but his fans feel sympathy for him because of his emotional state. Lil Uzi is very open about depression in his songs and his failed relationship with Byrd had enough of an impact on him to take a break from his music.
