Taylor Zachary Goldsmith was born on August 16, 1985 in Los Angeles, CA. He was brought up in southern California with his more youthful sibling Griffin by their folks Lenny and Kathy Goldsmith. His father was a musician and he toured as the lead singer of Tower of Power during the 1980s. He went to Malibu High School where he was friends with Blake Mills. In 2002, Goldsmith together with high school colleague and guitarist Blake Mills created a post-punk band called Simon Dawes.

Goldsmith is a happily married man. He is married to Mandy Moore, an American singer-songwriter and actress. The couple started dating in 2015. Their relationship started to develop after Mandy shared a photograph of a Dawes record collection on Instagram and Taylor sent her a message to express profound gratitude. They started messaging each other and sparks began to fly. They got engaged in late 2017 and the next year on November 18, 2018, the lovebirds got married in Los Angeles.

In December 2019, it was announced that actress, Hilary Duff got married to Matthew Koma in a private ceremony that included their children, Luca and Banks. The wedding happened in Duff and Koma's Beverly Hills yard. Guests included Hilary's sister, Haylie Duff and Mandy Moore. Taylor lent some help to his wife's friends by playing at the wedding service with his band, Dawes.

Taylor Goldsmith is the frontman of the band, Dawes. While he sings and plays guitar, his sibling Griffin Goldsmith plays the drums. Wylie Gelber on the bass and Lee Pardini on the keyboard. They made their debut in 2009 and have since released five collections. Their most recent, We're All Gonna Die, topped at No. 1 on the U.S. Charts.

They went along with him on his U.S. School Tour in 2013, when their collection Stories Don't End, sold 65,000 copies. Their objective was to have fans love Dawes as much as they love Bob Dylan. At the end of the tour, they met their goal.
