Patrick Cantlay is a professional golfer from the United States. He had a tremendous amateur career, spending 55 weeks at the top of the World Amateur Golf Ranking. The Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in 2017, the Memorial Tournament in 2019 and 2021, the Zozo Championship in 2020, and the BMW Championship in 2021 are among his five PGA Tour victories.

Patrick Cantlay was born on March 17, 1992, in Long Beach, California. Cantlay was born to Steve and Colleen Neylan Cantlay. Caroline Cantlay is his sister, and Nick and Jack Cantlay are his brothers. As a senior, he won the California State High School Championship at Servite High School.

Cantlay won four events as a freshman at UCLA and was named the Haskins Award winner for most outstanding college golfer in 2011. He was also named the Division I Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). In addition to being the Pac-10 Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, Cantlay received the Phil Mickelson Award as the GCAA National Freshman of the Year. At the end of the 2011 season, he earned the Mark H. McCormack Medal as the world's top-ranked amateur. He was invited to the 2012 Open Championship as a result of this award.

Patrick Cantlay started as a rookie at the U.S. Open, but he quickly rose the ranks. He won four competitions and won the Haskins Award as the most remarkable university golfer in 2011. He also won the Mark H. McCormack Medal as the top-positioned amateur on the planet toward the finish of the 2011 season, and it earned him a spot in the 2012 Open Championship. He won the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in a playoff for his first PGA Tour title in 2017.

In 2018, Cantlay took a two-shot lead to the last nine holes in the last round at Muirfield Village yet didn't make another birdie and missed a playoff by one shot. This time around, Cantlay, in the wake of making the turn in 5-under 31, didn't douse his force and birdied the eleventh, fourteenth and fifteenth.
