Julianne Hough was born on July 20, 1988 in Orem, Utah. She experienced childhood in a Mormon family. Her father, Bruce Robert Hough, was the administrator of Utah Republic Party. She has four older siblings named Sharee, Marabeth, Derek, and Katherine. She originates from a group of dancers. Her older brother is a dancer and her grandparents were also dancers. She is also cousins with the American actor and musician Ross Lynch.

Julianne Hough is usually a solitary lady in her personal life. The dancer is married to Brooks Laich, a Canadian ice hockey player. The two have been as one since 2013 and in 2015, they got formally engaged to each other. The two got married in 2017.

Preceding her marriage to Brooks, she dated solo dancer, Mark Ballas from 2002 to 2004. She was also in a relationship with Zach Wilson, a dancer from 2005 till 2007.
