Short Biography

Octavia Spencer is known as an African American actress. She is most famous for her award-winning performance in 'The Help.'

Octavia Lenora Spencer was born on May 25, 1970 in Montgomery, Alabama. Growing up as the second youngest of seven children, Octavia Spencer didn't imagine that she would turn into an actress. While keen on performing, she was urged by her mom to accomplish something down to earth. At Auburn University, Spencer studied English and Theater Arts. She graduated in 1994 and before long started working behind the camera, helping with motion pictures taped in her local state of Alabama.

Career as an Actress

In 1995, Spencer handled her first on-screen role in A Time to Kill, a film adaptation of the prevalent John Grisham novel. She had signed on to help with casting the film, yet the director Joel Schumacher requested that she have a tryout. Released the next year, A Time to Kill featured Sandra Bullock, Matthew McConaughey, and Samuel L. Jackson. Spencer established a significant connection with the lead actress, Bullock, who later employed Spencer to work in her 1998 short film, Making Sandwiches.

Spencer ended up known as a solid supporting actress, capable of both drama and comedy pieces. Entertainment Weekly named her one of its 25 most interesting actresses in Hollywood in 2009, calling her a cheeky, smart actress that was shrewd past her years. But it took an individual connection with a man named Tate that would take her career to the following dimension.

Through her companion Tate Taylor, Spencer met author Kathryn Stockett. Stockett and Taylor had been companions since adolescence, and he purchased the film rights to her novel The Help before the book was even distributed. The Help investigates the lives of two types of ladies in a Southern town during the 1960s, white housewives and their African-American servants.

While there are different actors who are getting a charge out of the joyful balance of a marriage and a fruitful career, Octavia picked her acting career over starting her own family. She is happy with her choice not to wed or have her very own offspring. The purposes for her choice are best known to her, however, there have been gossipy tidbits that she was connected with Josh Hopkins and Tate Taylor but they were just rumors and never confirmed. She has had a close friend Tate Taylor for years but both sides have claimed that they are just friends and nothing more.
