Early Life

Bob Beckel was born on November 15, 1948 in New York City. He is the son of Cambridge Graham Beckel, a former U.S. Foreign Service Officer, and Ellen Graham Beckel, a homemaker. Beckel attended Wagner College in Staten Island, New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971.

Political Career

Beckel began his political career in 1976, when he was appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs in the Carter Administration. He then served as the national campaign manager for Walter Mondale's 1984 presidential campaign. After Mondale's defeat, Beckel became a political consultant and strategist, working on campaigns for a variety of Democratic candidates.

In 2000, Beckel joined Fox News Channel as a political analyst and commentator. He was a regular guest on the network's late-night talk show, Red Eye, and was a co-host of the Fox News Channel's The Five. He left the show in 2015, but returned in 2017.

In addition to his work on Fox News, Beckel has also served as a political analyst for CNN and a contributor to The Hill newspaper. He has also written several books, including I Should Be Dead: My Life Surviving Politics, TV, and Addiction (2015).
