Early Life

Zoraida Sambolin was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 12, 1965. She is of Puerto Rican descent and grew up in the city's Humboldt Park neighborhood. She attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she earned a degree in communications.

Career

After graduating from college, Sambolin began her career in journalism as a reporter for WMAQ-TV in Chicago. She then moved to WFLD-TV, where she worked as a news anchor and reporter.
