Walt Mossberg is an American journalist and technology columnist who has been credited with helping to shape the modern technology industry. He is best known for his work as the principal technology columnist for The Wall Street Journal, where he wrote the weekly "Personal Technology" column from 1991 to 2013. He is also the co-founder of the technology news website Recode, which he co-founded with Kara Swisher in 2014.

Early Life and Career

Walt Mossberg was born in 1947 in Warwick, Rhode Island. He attended Brandeis University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in English literature in 1969. After graduating, he worked as a reporter for The Providence Journal and The Miami Herald. In 1972, he joined The Wall Street Journal as a reporter in the Washington, D.C. bureau.

In 1991, Mossberg was asked to write a weekly column about technology for The Wall Street Journal. His column, "Personal Technology," quickly became one of the most popular and influential technology columns in the world. In it, he wrote about the latest technology products and trends, offering his readers advice on how to make the most of their technology investments.

Recode and Later Career

In 2014, Mossberg and Kara Swisher co-founded the technology news website Recode. The website quickly became one of the most popular sources of technology news and analysis, and Mossberg continued to write his weekly column for the site until his retirement in 2017.
