Thomas Rhett Akins Jr. was born on March 30, 1990 in Valdosta, Georgia. Rhett's father is the prestigious singer-songwriter Rhett Akins. Rhett and his father have composed tunes together and their "Star of the Show" came to a No. 1 spot in 2017. Akins was likewise one of the co-writers on "It Goes Like This," which in 2013 turned into Rhett's first No. 1 melody. "Drink a Little Beer," from the collection Life Changes, features Akins on the track.

Rhett and Lauren each considered wedding different partners while in school. Those relationships were over when they met again in 2011 at a graduation party for her sister. With support from Lauren's father, Rhett admitted his sentiments. They got engaged in December 2011.

In 2016, Lauren joined the non-profit association 147 Million Orphans out traveling to Uganda, where she met a stranded child young lady. By then the couple had been fruitless in attempting to have a baby and were discussing adoption. After Rhett saw a photograph of Lauren and the infant, he recommended they attempt to adopt this young lady.

The entangled remote adoption process was in progress when Rhett and Lauren were astonished to learn Lauren was pregnant. They had the option to finish the adoption of 18-month-old Willa Gray in May 2017 preceding their subsequent girl, Ada James, who was born on August 12, 2017. In July 2019, the couple reported that they were anticipating their third youngster.

Thomas Rhett's third album collection, Life Changes appeared at No. 1 in 2017. In November 2019, at the 2019 American Music Awards, Thomas Rhett was nominated for the Favorite Male Artist in the Country Category Award but lost to Kane Brown.
