Randy Meisner

Randy Meisner is an American singer, songwriter, and bassist best known for his work with the Eagles. He was born on March 8, 1946 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He began playing music at an early age, learning to play the guitar and singing in his church choir. He moved to California in the late 1960s and joined the band Poco, where he wrote and sang lead vocals on their hit single “Crazy Love.”

Early Career

Meisner's career began in the late 1960s when he joined the band Poco. He wrote and sang lead vocals on their hit single “Crazy Love,” which reached number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He also wrote and sang lead vocals on the band's other hit singles, “Keep On Believin'” and “Call It Love.” Meisner left Poco in 1974 and began a solo career. His first solo album, Randy Meisner, was released in 1975 and featured the hit single “Hearts on Fire.”

The Eagles

In 1977, Meisner joined the Eagles, replacing founding member Bernie Leadon. He wrote and sang lead vocals on the band's hit single “Take It to the Limit,” which reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He also wrote and sang lead vocals on the band's other hit singles, “I Can't Tell You Why” and “The Long Run.” Meisner left the Eagles in 1977 and was replaced by Timothy B. Schmit.

Solo Career

After leaving the Eagles, Meisner released his second solo album, One More Song, in 1979. The album featured the hit single “Livin' Alone,” which reached number twenty-five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He released two more solo albums in the 1980s, but neither was successful. In the 1990s, Meisner released two more solo albums, but neither was successful.

Later Career

In the 2000s, Meisner returned to the music scene with the release of his fifth solo album, Randy Meisner: Live at the Roxy. The album featured live performances of his classic songs, as well as new material. He also released a live DVD, Randy Meisner: Live at the Roxy, in 2006. Meisner continues to tour and perform live shows.
