R. L. Stine is an American author, best known for his horror fiction for children and young adults. Early Life

Robert Lawrence Stine was born on October 8, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio. He was the only child of Anne and Lewis Stine, who owned a grocery store. Stine was an avid reader from a young age, and was particularly fond of horror stories. He wrote his first story at the age of nine, and by the time he was in high school, he was writing and selling jokes to magazines.

Writing Career

After graduating from Ohio State University in 1965, Stine moved to New York City to pursue a career in writing.
