Nikola Mirotić is known as a Montenegrin-Spanish professional basketball player for the FC Barcelona Bàsquet of the Liga ACB. He is most famous for choosing a European contract over contracts in the NBA.
Background and Age
Nikola Mirotić was born on February 11, 1991 in Podgorica, Montenegro. As a young boy, he wanted nothing to do with sports other than European football. Things started to change when he was 13 years old, he was taught the fundamentals of basketball by his grandfather and signed his first contract, a rookie contract with Real Madrid the next year, in 2005, after he had turned 14.
Wife and Kids
Mirotić owes his family life to the solid bond with his former mentor and coach, Jadran Vujačić. Jadran advised him on how to maintain a personal life in the midst of being a famous ballplayer. Mirotić is married to Jadran's daughter Nina Vujačić. It isn't known to when they started dating but their love is strong. Nikola and Nina got married in June 2012. Right around a year later, in May 2013, the couple gave birth to their first youngster, a kid named Aleksandar Mirotić. It was speculated that he declined offers in the NBA to return to Europe in June 2019 because of his wife. She did not like the lifestyle in the United States and wanted to raise their family in Europe.
Playing Career and Contracts
Mirotić started to get on the scene when he signed with Real Madrid's senior team in 2008. He asserted some authority with an excellent performance in the 2010-2011 Euroleague season, acquiring himself the EuroLeague Rising Star award and a five-year contract extension. He also helped his group to secure the Spanish Supercup and the Spanish King's Cup the accompanying season and was named to the All-EuroLeague Second Team for the following two seasons after that.
At the 2011 NBA Draft, Nikola Mirotić was picked 27th by the Houston Rockets. They exchanged him to the Minnesota Timberwolves who then passed him on to the Chicago Bulls. He had a critical December when was named Rookie of the Month for his play. Nikola Mirotić signed an extended contract with the Bulls on September 25, 2017, His start to the season was deferred in part because of a fight with partner Bobby Portis. The quarrel earned him a trip to the medical clinic, a concussion and a couple of breaks to his face.
In the 2018 season, he was a key part of the Milwaukee Bucks who obtained the best regular season record before losing in the Eastern Conference Finals.
