Mark Halperin is an American journalist, author, and political analyst. Early Life
Mark Halperin was born in Bethesda, Maryland on January 11, 1965. He is the son of Morton Halperin, a prominent foreign policy expert, and his wife, Lila. Halperin attended Harvard University, where he earned a degree in government in 1987.
Career
Halperin began his career as a political analyst in the early 1990s, working as a consultant for ABC News. He then joined the staff of ABC News in 1997, where he served as the network's political director. In 2003, Halperin left ABC News to become the political director of MSNBC. He was also a frequent guest on various political talk shows, including The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and Real Time with Bill Maher.
In 2008, Halperin co-authored the book Game Change, which chronicled the 2008 presidential election. The book was a bestseller and was later adapted into an HBO movie.
In 2010, Halperin joined Bloomberg Television as a political analyst. He also served as the editor-at-large of Time magazine from 2011 to 2016.
In 2017, Halperin was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women. He was subsequently fired from his positions at MSNBC and Bloomberg Television, and his book deal with Penguin Press was canceled.
In 2020, Halperin released a memoir, How to Beat Trump: America's Top Political Strategists on What It Will Take, which was published by Regan Arts.
