Margaret Cuthbert

Margaret Cuthbert was a pioneering British physicist and mathematician who made significant contributions to the field of atomic physics. She was born in London in 1891 and was educated at the University of London, where she earned a degree in mathematics. After graduating, she worked as a research assistant at the Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge, where she studied the structure of atoms.

Early Career

In 1921, Cuthbert was appointed as a lecturer in physics at the University of London, becoming the first woman to hold such a position. She was also the first woman to be elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1924.
