Les Moonves was born on October 6, 1949 in New York City. He is the son of Joseph Moonves, a dentist, and his wife, Marjorie. Moonves attended Valley Stream Central High School in Valley Stream, New York, and then went on to study at Bucknell University, where he graduated with a degree in Spanish.
Career
Moonves began his career in the entertainment industry in the 1970s, working as a programming executive at 20th Century Fox. He then moved to Warner Bros. Television, where he was responsible for developing hit shows such as “Friends” and “ER.” In 1995, Moonves joined CBS as President of Entertainment, and was promoted to Chairman and CEO of CBS Corporation in 2006.
