Background and Age

Born on May 4, 1988, in Harvey, IL, LaRoyce Hawkins is an American actor, standup comic, spoken word artist, and musician. He went to Thornton High School. In his school days, Hawkins developed a passion for playing basketball; his love became fruitful as he received a full educational scholarship to attend Illinois State University. With time Hawkins's interest changed. During his university days, he studied theatre arts and majored in it. He garnered a deep interest in acting and featured in his first school play as Toledo from the August Wilson production Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.

Career

Hawkins played the role of a cop, Kevin Atwater, on 'Chicago P.D,' and before that, he had made several appearances in many television series like HBO's Ballers, TBS Tyler Perry's House of Payne, MTV's Underemployed, and ABC's Detroit 1-8-7. He played the role of Art Baker in the film 'The Express,'—based on the life of Ernie Davis.

Philanthropy

Hawkins held the title of Celebrity Kettle Ambassador for the Salvation Army in 2020 for the second consecutive time. Hawkins has a following that the Salvation Army never managed to reach. He brings and carries forward a wide array of a crowd to the Salvation Army. Salvation Army is an integral part of the Christian Church, which follows the Christian beliefs and emphasizes God's purposes. His campaign for the Salvation Army earned him an Emmy.

In November 2019, Hawkins won Chicago/Midwest Emmy Award for his outstanding achievement for community service. His single spot campaign for 'The Salvation Army Red Kettle 2018' fundraising appeal.

He devotes his time to giving back to society. He has plans to better his old neighborhood in Harvey with different social activities, mainly focusing on cleaning up. His message, 'Be Powerful,' resounds clearly in his works and the motto he carries.
