Early Life
John Marsden was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1950. He attended Geelong Grammar School, where he was a boarder. He then went on to study at the University of Melbourne, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History. After graduating, he worked as a teacher at Geelong Grammar School and then at a number of other schools in Victoria.
