John King is an American journalist and political commentator who has been a prominent figure in the media for over two decades. He is currently the Chief National Correspondent for CNN and the host of the weekly political talk show Inside Politics.

Early Life

John King was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts on August 30, 1963. He was raised in a working-class Irish Catholic family and attended Boston Latin School, the oldest public school in the United States. He went on to attend the University of Rhode Island, where he earned a bachelor's degree in journalism.

Career

After graduating from college, King began his career as a reporter for the Associated Press in 1985. He quickly rose through the ranks and was eventually named the AP's chief political correspondent in 1991. In 1997, he joined CNN as the network's senior White House correspondent. He went on to become the network's chief national correspondent in 2005 and the host of Inside Politics in 2014.

King has covered some of the most important political stories of the past two decades, including the impeachment of President Bill Clinton, the 2000 presidential election, the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and the 2008 presidential election.
