John Kasich is an American politician who served as the 69th Governor of Ohio from 2011 to 2019. He was a member of the Republican Party and was the chairman of the Ohio Republican Party from 1999 to 2000. He was also a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1983 to 2001.

Early Life

John Kasich was born on May 13, 1952 in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. He is the son of Anne and John Kasich Sr., who was a mailman. Kasich attended Ohio State University, where he earned a degree in political science. After college, he worked as an investment banker and then as a managing director at Lehman Brothers.

Political Career

In 1982, Kasich was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Ohio's 12th congressional district. He served in the House for 18 years, during which time he was a member of the Budget Committee and the Armed Services Committee. He was also the chairman of the House Budget Committee from 1995 to 2001.
