Early Life
Jerney Kaagman was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands in 1949. She was the daughter of a Dutch father and a Jewish mother who had fled Germany during World War II. Career
In 1969, Jerney and her brother Chris formed the band Earth and Fire. The band quickly gained popularity in the Netherlands and released their first album, Earth and Fire, in 1970. The album was a success and spawned several hit singles, including “Memories” and “Seasons”. The band went on to release several more albums and tour extensively throughout Europe.
In the late 1970s, Jerney began to focus on her solo career. She released her first solo album, Jerney Kaagman, in 1979. The album was a success and spawned the hit single “I’m Gonna Make You Mine”. She followed this up with several more solo albums, including 1982’s Love Is the Answer and 1985’s I’m Not Afraid.
In the 1990s, Jerney reunited with her brother Chris to reform Earth and Fire. The band released several more albums and toured extensively throughout Europe. In 2000, Jerney released her first solo album in over a decade, entitled I’m Still Here. The album was a success and spawned the hit single “I’m Still Here”.
In recent years, Jerney has continued to perform and record with Earth and Fire, as well as collaborate with a variety of other artists. She has also released several solo albums, including her most recent, I’m Still Here, in 2020.
