Fred Hammond was born on December 27, 1960, in San Antonio, TX. He was raised in the city of Detroit. Fred started singing with his congregation ensemble at 12 years old, played bass and sang with the Winans during the mid-'80s. He started to gain confidence as he won the approval of his peers and adults around him.
