Frank Elstner is a German television presenter, producer, and author. He is best known for his long-running talk show Wetten, dass..?, which ran from 1981 to 2014. He has also hosted a number of other shows, including the game show Glücksrad and the music show Musikantenstadl.

Early Life

Frank Elstner was born on November 20, 1942 in Berlin, Germany. He grew up in the city of Essen, where he attended the local high school. After graduating, he studied law at the University of Cologne. During his studies, he worked as a radio presenter for the local station WDR.

Career

In 1971, Elstner joined the German television network ZDF, where he hosted the show Musikantenstadl. The show was a huge success and ran for over 20 years. In 1981, Elstner began hosting the talk show Wetten, dass..?, which quickly became one of the most popular shows in Germany. The show ran for 33 years and featured a variety of celebrity guests.

In addition to his television work, Elstner has also written several books, including his autobiography, Mein Leben und ich (My Life and I). He has also written several novels, including Der Tag, an dem ich mich verliebte (The Day I Fell in Love).

In 2014, Elstner retired from television and began focusing on his writing career. He has since written several books, including his memoirs, Mein Leben und ich (My Life and I).

Awards and Achievements

Elstner has been honored with numerous awards throughout his career. In 2002, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. In 2008, he was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit. In 2011, he was awarded the Goldene Kamera, Germany's highest television award.
