Elton John is known as a British singer, pianist, and composer. He is most famous for selling more than 300 million records.
Background and Age
Reginald Kenneth Dwight was born on March 25, 1947, in Pinner, Middlesex, England. He found his energy and passion for music at an early age and showed himself how to play the piano when he was just four years of age. Proving to be an incredible ability, he won a scholarship to a youth program at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
John had a troublesome relationship with his father, Stanley Dwight, a member of the Royal Air Force. His folks separated from each other when he was a youngster, and he and his father conflicted over his future. John, enamored by the hints of musical fame, wanted to pursue a career in popular music. Much to his father's disappointment, John dropped out of school at 17 to pursue his fantasy. He started playing with a musical gathering called Bluesology, and he cobbled together his stage moniker from the names of two members of the band.
In 1967, John responded to a promotion for a songwriter for Liberty Records. He landed the position and before long collaborated with lyricist Bernie Taupin. The team signed to the DJM label the next year, writing tunes for different artists.
Married, Wife and Kids
John met his long-lasting romantic partner David Furnish at an evening gathering in 1993. The pair got married in a common service on December 21, 2005, the same day the Civil Partnership Act 2004 became effective. With the assistance of a surrogate, the couple welcomed their first child into the world, Zachary Furnish-John, in December 2010, and brought on their subsequent kid, Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John, in January 2013. Nine years after their common service, on December 21, 2014, the couple got married again after laws permitting gay marriage came into effect in Britain.
Before his marriage to David, John was previously married to Renate Blauel from 1984 to 1988.
Career and Net Worth
John got his first break as a singer with his 1969 collection Empty Sky, including tunes by John and Taupin. While that recording failed to reach massive success, his 1970 self-titled release featured John's hit, "Your Song." More hits before long pursued, including No. 1 tracks like "Crocodile Rock," "Bennie and the Jets" and "Island Girl." John delighted in a series of top-selling collections during this time, including Goodbye Yellow Brick Road in 1973 and Rock of the Westies in 1975.
In November 2019, at the 2019 American Music Awards, Elton John was nominated for the Tour of The Year Award but lost to the K-pop boy band, BTS.
