Cynthia Erivo is a British actress, singer, and songwriter. She is most famous for her award-winning performance as Celie in the 2015 Broadway presentation of The Color Purple.

Cynthia Erivo was born on January 8, 1987. She encountered her adolescence phase in Stockwell, London, England, United Kingdom. Her folks are from Nigeria. For her education, she went to La Retraite R.C Girls School. A short time later, she started a music theory qualification at the University of East London. A year into her degree, she studied and prepared at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Cynthia started her acting career on British TV, appearing in shows like Chewing Gum and The Tunnel. Her first segment before an audience came in 2010 when she featured in Marine Parade at the Brighton Festival. From that point forward, Cynthia was given an essential part as Sister Mary Clarence in the musical Sister Act, based on the popular 1992 comedy film.
