Early Life

William Lawrence Griffeth was born on August 15, 1955 in Los Angeles, California. He was raised in the San Fernando Valley and attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a degree in economics. After college, he worked as a financial analyst for a few years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism.

Career

In 1983, Griffeth began his career in journalism as a reporter for the Los Angeles Times. He then moved to the San Francisco Chronicle, where he worked as a business reporter and columnist. In 1989, he joined CNBC as a reporter and anchor. He quickly rose through the ranks and became the co-anchor of the show Closing Bell in 2005.

Griffeth has also written several books, including The Stranger in the Mirror: A Story of Resilience and Hope (2005), The Wall Street Journal Guide to the Markets (2006), and The New Rules of Investing (2007). He has also appeared as a guest on numerous television shows, including The Today Show, Good Morning America, and The Oprah Winfrey Show.
