William Geist was born on May 9, 1945 in Champaign, Illinois. He was raised in Bloomington, Indiana, where he attended Indiana University. He graduated in 1967 with a degree in journalism. After college, Geist worked as a reporter for the Chicago Tribune and then as a freelance writer for various publications.
Career
In the early 1970s, Geist began working as a writer and producer for the television show PM Magazine. He then moved to New York City and worked as a writer and producer for the show Real People. In 1983, he joined the staff of CBS News, where he worked as a correspondent for the show West 57th.
In 1993, Geist joined the staff of CBS Sunday Morning, where he has been a correspondent ever since. He is known for his humorous and offbeat stories, which often feature his family members. He has also written several books, including Little League Confidential, The Zucchini Plague, and Good Talk, Dad.
