She went to Penrhos College, a live-in school in North Wales, when her father was posted abroad as a remote reporter for the Daily Telegraph. After leaving school she moved to London to go to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Husband and Kids
Anne Reid was previously married to Peter Eckersley. They got married in 1971 and they had a decade of love before he passed away in 1981. They had a son together named Mark Eckersley. Befoe her marriage to Peter, she was in a quick relationship with an American actor named Warren Beatty.
Career and Net Worth
Anne Reid's first significant acting role was as the character of Valerie Tatlock on Coronation Street. Her character was a mainstream hit with the fans. Valerie's union with Ken Barlow was an early case of a soap super couple. Her character Valerie was the mother of the twins Susan and Peter. Reid joined the cast, at first for two months, starting in August 1961 before leaving in October. She came back to the program to wed Ken in August 1962. The episode was viewed by 15.8 million fans.
In 1968, Reid played one of the most troublesome episodes in Coronation Street, when Val was held hostage by an attacker. Despite the fact that Val was not hurt, watchers sent in hate mail to the actor who played the attacker. In November 1970, Reid reported she was leaving Coronation Street as she was then pregnant with her child.
Following a quick brack from acting to raise her child, Reid continued her career in front of an audience and TV during the 1980s. From 1998 to 2000, Reid assumed the significant role of Jean in the BBC comedy series Dinnerladies by Victoria Wood.
In January 2020, ITV's adaptation of Jane Austen's unfinished and unrecognized novel, Sanditon hit the little screen. The makers of the show were given a hardly started Austen story that they could do anything they wanted with. The record of Sanditon is one of a kind in association with whatever else Austen wrote. There are immense numbers of smart jokes. Anne stars on the show as Lady Denham.
