Anna's acting career started early when she featured in movies like Uncle Buck, and her hit motion pictures My Girl in 1991 and its sequel in 1994. Her TV debut presentation was in the film, A Child's Wish where she played Missy Chandler. She has additionally been featured in the sitcom Cupid and in the film Early Edition.

The actress enjoyed a reprieve from acting between 1999 to 2005 while she was at the University of Chicago from which she graduated with a BA in International Studies. Upon graduation, Anna didn't return immediately to acting as she attempted to do different occupations like being a reality checker for Zagat Survey and an assistant editorial manager which she didn't appreciate and chose to return to acting. To improve on her acting aptitudes, she enrolled at the Atlantic Acting School in Manhattan.
