Angelina Jolie is an Oscar-winning actress, movie director, humanitarian and global celebrity.

Childhood & Early Life

Angelina Jolie was born on June 04, 1975, to father, Jon Voight, and mother Marcheline Bertrand in Los Angeles, California; her parents both were actors. Angelina Jolie's relationship with her father, Jon, wasn't healthy. Therefore she lived with her mother and attended Beverly Hills High School. Angelina and her mother lived on a modest income. Angelina's father, Jonn Voight, was an academy award-winner actor. She became inspired by her mother's film; she debuted in Lookin' to Get Out at the age of five; the film also starred her father.

Later on, she enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute for acting courses at sixteen. She trained there for two years, and after that, she began appearing in several stage productions.

Just two years after her birth, Angelina's parents decided to divorce. Even though she had an estranged relationship with her father, they both appeared together in one of Angelina's hits, "Lara Croft Tomb Raider."

In her time at Beverly Hills School, Angelina was regarded as a notorious kid, a leader of a group of girls. The movie Star Trek was her favorite, but later, when she became a teenager, she changed completely and began to suffer from low self-esteem. Her peers teased her about her skinny looks, and therefore her school life became miserable for her.

Initial success

She made her debut at the early age of five, appearing in her father's film "Looking to Get Out." And after graduating from Lee Strasberg, she banked her first leading role in Hackers in 1995. The film didn't mainly do well in the box office, but people and film critics applauded her performance.

Her first big success came in 1998, playing a supermodel Gia Maria Carangi in an HBO movie,' Gia.' Gia, a film based on a real story, was a disturbing movie about a celebrity supermodel who died of AIDS. She for the film won the Golden Globe for the Best Actress.

However, her most significant achievement came the following year, when she won an Academy Award for Best Actress in 'Girl, Interrupted.' She also won a consecutive second Golden Globe for the movie.

Personal life

Her professional life is full of glamour and success, but her personal life and marriage aren't very telling. She has in total married three times; her first marriage was with Jonny Lee Miller. During the shooting of Hackers, Angelina and Jonny Lee Miller met with an instant spark, despite their age difference. They married in 1995, but just after four years, the couple divorced.

In 2000, she married Billy Bob Thornton, but the marriage couldn't last beyond 2003.

And it was during the shooting of Mr. and Mrs. Smith she met Brad Pitt. They both fell in love and married in 2014 in a private ceremony. Jennifer Aniston, the ex-wife of Brad Pitt, accused Angelina Jolie of breaking her marriage with Pitt. Brad and Angelina, popularly known as Brangelina among their fans, had six children together; they adopted three kids from different ethnicity.

But the couple couldn't remain together for a long time; they announced their divorce on September 20, 2016, citing 'irreconcilable differences' in their divorce papers.
