Amitabh Bachchan is an Indian film actor, producer, television host, and former politician. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential actors in the history of Indian cinema. Early Life
Amitabh Bachchan was born on October 11, 1942, in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. His father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, was a Hindi poet and his mother, Teji Bachchan, was a Sikh from Lyallpur, Punjab. He has an elder brother, Ajitabh. He attended Sherwood College in Nainital and later on went to Kirori Mal College in Delhi University.
Career
Amitabh Bachchan made his acting debut in 1969 with the film Saat Hindustani. He rose to prominence after starring in the action-drama Zanjeer (1973). He went on to establish himself as one of the most successful actors of the 1970s and 1980s, with films such as Sholay (1975), Deewar (1975), Don (1978), and Agneepath (1990). He has also starred in several commercially successful films such as Coolie (1983), Hum (1991), Khuda Gawah (1992), and Mohabbatein (2000).
In addition to acting, Amitabh Bachchan has also hosted several television shows, including Kaun Banega Crorepati (2000–11, 2018–present). He has also been involved in politics, having contested the 1984 Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate from Allahabad.
