Alex Cord was born Alexander Viespi on May 3, 1933 in New York City. He was raised in the Bronx and attended the High School of Performing Arts. After graduating, he attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and then went on to study at the Actors Studio.
Career
Cord began his career in the early 1960s, appearing in several television shows such as The Defenders, The Virginian, and The Fugitive. He also had a recurring role in the soap opera The Edge of Night. In 1965, he made his feature film debut in the western The Sons of Katie Elder.
In the 1970s, Cord starred in several films, including the cult classic The Man Who Fell to Earth, the horror film The Beastmaster, and the action-adventure Airwolf. He also appeared in the television miniseries Rich Man, Poor Man and its sequel Rich Man, Poor Man Book II.
