David Bromstad is known as an American designer and television personality. He is most famous for being the first winner of HGTV’s Design Star.

Background

David Reed Bromstad was born on August 17, 1973, in Cokato City of Minnesota. He is the child of Diane Bromstad and Richard Bromstad. He spent his initial youth in Cokato nearby his three siblings Dean, Dynelle, and Dyonne. While he was growing up, he indicated a strong enthusiasm for design.

David studied at Wayzata High Schoo. While he was there, David chose to pursue a career in animation. After his graduation, he proceeded to enlist at the Ringling College of Art and Design located in Sarasota, Florida. There, he studied animation and design.

Relationships

David came out as gay during an interview in 2012. He had a strong relationship with Jeffery Glasko. The couple was as one for more than eight years before their relationship finished. David and Jeff started their relationship in 2004; they met each other during Valentine's party held at a bar in Orlando. They started their relationship which went on for over a decade until they decided to split in 2015.

Career

David got his first gig with Disney and put in a couple of years working as a Design Illustrator for the popular organization. During his time with Disney, the young designer immediately drafted imaginative plan ideas. After leaving Disney, David immediately established his own design organization through which he started designing apartments for individuals. In spite of the fact that he had bunches of early troubles, David stayed determined in his business. He was approached by a companion who urged him to be a part of the HGTV's design contest called Design Star.

David chose to move to Miami Beach so he could join the design challenge. During the challenge, he had the chance to triumph over the other nine candidates to win the star prize. Following his triumph, he was awarded a vehicle and given a chance to start hosting his own show on the network. He hosted his first show called Color Splash on HGTV in 2007. The show collected positive audits and reviews from design experts and was eventually renewed by the network after its first season.

David has featured in other HGTV shows including the ensuing seasons of Design Star. He has filled in as an appointed judge, guide and host on the show. He has also filled in as a brand diplomat for design organizations like Mythic Paint and Miele Home Appliances.
