Timothy J. Keller is an American pastor, theologian, and author. He is the founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City, and the author of several books, including The Reason for God, The Prodigal God, and Making Sense of God. He is also the founder of Redeemer City to City, a church-planting organization that has helped to start over 500 churches in cities around the world.

Early Life

Timothy J. Keller was born in 1950 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He grew up in a Christian home and attended a Presbyterian church. He attended Bucknell University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. He then went on to Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, where he earned a Master of Divinity degree.

Ministry

In 1989, Keller and his wife Kathy moved to New York City to start Redeemer Presbyterian Church. The church quickly grew, and today it has over 5,000 members.
