Asunción Cummings Hostin was born on October 20, 1968, in New York, NY. She is the girl of William Cummings and Rosa Beza. Hostin graduated from Binghamton University and Notre Dame Law School.

Sunny has been married to an orthopedic specialist, Emmanuel Hostin since 1998. She has two children, Gabriel, born on August 15, 2002 and Paloma, born on May 5, 2006.

Sunny started her news coverage career as a reporter for Court TV, a digital broadcast system and former American satellite TV channel. It was initially propelled in 1991 with an emphasis on wrongdoing themed programs, for example, real crime documentary series, legitimate dramas, and coverage of prominent criminal cases. Later she was offered a spot on the Fox News program The O'Reilly Factor, where she appeared on the show's "Is It Legal?" segments, routinely bantering with Bill O'Reilly and Megyn Kelly. She was a key part of the show because she offered a different viewpoint to the audience.
Sunny joined ABC's Emmy Award-winning daytime television show "The View" as a co-host in September 2016. She additionally returned that year to ABC News as a Senior Legal Correspondent and Analyst.
From 2007 to 2016, Hostin was a host and legal examiner at CNN. She was known for her coverage of lawful cases focusing on social equity issues, for example, the shootings of Trayvon Martin and Jordan Davis, the AME Church slaughter in Charleston and the Baltimore riots. Before working at CNN, Hostin filled in as co-anchor for ABC News' "Reality News Now" and "America This Morning."
