Early Life

Pete Dawkins was born in Royal Oak, Michigan in 1938. He was raised in a military family, with his father serving in the United States Army. From an early age, Pete was an exceptional student and athlete. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he was a standout football player and earned a degree in engineering.

Military Career

After graduating from West Point, Pete was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. He was sent to Vietnam in 1962, where he served as a platoon leader. During his time in Vietnam, Pete distinguished himself in combat and was awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery and leadership. After his service in Vietnam, Pete was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General and served in various positions in the Army.

Business Career

After retiring from the Army in 1983, Pete began a successful business career. He served as Vice Chairman of Lehman Brothers from 1984 to 1989, and was a partner at the private equity firm Warburg Pincus from 1989 to 1995. He also served on the boards of several companies, including the New York Stock Exchange and the National Football League.

Legacy

Pete Dawkins is remembered as a decorated war hero and successful businessman. He was a leader in the military and business worlds, and his legacy lives on in the many organizations and companies he helped to shape.
