Early Life

Michael Dann was born on April 15, 1932 in New York City. He was the son of a Jewish immigrant family from Poland. His father, Max, was a tailor and his mother, Sarah, was a homemaker. Growing up, Michael was an avid reader and had a passion for music. He attended the High School of Music and Art in Manhattan and graduated in 1950.

Career

After graduating, Michael began working as a music editor for CBS Television. He quickly rose through the ranks and eventually became the head of programming for the network. During his time at CBS, he was responsible for the development of some of the most iconic television shows of the era, including The Twilight Zone, Gunsmoke, and The Andy Griffith Show.

In 1965, Michael left CBS to become the head of programming for ABC. During his tenure at ABC, he was responsible for the development of shows such as Happy Days, The Love Boat, and Charlie's Angels. He also oversaw the launch of the ABC Movie of the Week, which was a major success.

In the late 1970s, Michael left ABC to become the president of MGM Television. During his time at MGM, he was responsible for the development of shows such as The Incredible Hulk, The A-Team, and Magnum P.I. He also oversaw the launch of the MGM Movie of the Week, which was another major success.

Legacy

Michael Dann was one of the most influential figures in the history of television.
